Spain advances pioneering 'Jane Goodall Law' to grant rights to Great Apes

The Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs, and the 2030 Agenda has officially announced the launch of the so-called 'Jane Goodall Law,' a groundbreaking global initiative aimed at recognizing basic rights for great apes—orangutans, chimpanzees, bonobos, and gorillas—protecting their dignity, right to life, freedom, and protection from torture.

The lethal link between hunting and wildfires

Madrid, España. The 2025 wildfire season in Spain is breaking historical records. The European Copernicus tool (EFFIS) has counted 344,417 hectares (over 851,000 acres) burned so far this year by mid-August, already surpassing 2022 levels. In this context, nearly 95% of wildfires in Spain are human-caused (negligence or intentional), and more than half are deliberately set.

Do not let the wolf lose its protection in Spain and throughout the EU

The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (Miteco) has opened a public consultation until June 12, 2025 on the proposed European Directive that downgrades the protection of wolves (Canis lupus). Beyond parliamentary debates and alarmist figures, science and experience demonstrate the absolute necessity to maintain and strengthen its legal status.
